Robyn Robin is the only bird at Woodlands school and she doesn't have a single friend. Her Head Teacher, wise Ms. Owl, tells her to write a letter to a pen pal in France. When she receives a letter from her new pen pal, Bernard Boar, inviting her to visit him, she is so excited - but France is so far away! Can she make it? Or is it too far for her to fly?
Introducing the European Movement UK's very first children's book!
Written and illustrated by our very own Madeleina Kay, this heart-warming story of friendship, learning, and self-discovery is perfect for children of all ages (and adults who want to brush up on their French!).
The story is told in English, with key words and phrases translated into French, each with a unique illustration, to help with the development of French reading and vocabulary. All the while the story takes you on a merry flight across the Channel with our hero, Robyn the robin, as she makes a friend for life, discovers the pleasures of French food, and learns the importance of cultural exchange.
As part of our cultural exchange campaign, copies of Faraway Friends will be donated to schools, libraries, and organisations to make sure that children have access to engaging and enjoyable language learning tools.
All proceeds from the sale of the book will go directly into the European Movement's campaigns to bring the UK and EU closer together, just like Robyn Robin and her friend Bernard Boar.
